Nationalist Party MP Claudette Buttigieg this evening submitted a hard copy of Daphne Caruana Galizia's last blog post, as well as bay laurel leaves from Daphne Caruana Galizia's tree to parliament in a symbolic gesture.
Referring to the blog post, she stated "this is an article which must be part of the records of this room, especially her last words. Her voice cannot be lost," she said, repeating the final sentence which reads 'there are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate.'
A couple of bay laurel leaves given to Buttigieg by Daphne Caruana Galizia's sons from the tree in their garden were also submitted, with the approval of the room. "They could be placed in the room as a symbol," she said, explaining that in the past, they were the leaves used to make crowns. "They are also symbolic for those remembering what happened to her," she said.
On the three-month-mark since Daphne Caruana Galizia's assassination, Buttigieg reflected that she feels like the country is in a state of bereavement.
She explained that the journalist had written about her twice, the second time being more of a "telling off". "Nowadays I appreciate that telling-off," she said. "I was not noticing the signs of the moment."
