INDEPTH online Friday, 19 January 2018, 08:49 Last update: about 7 years ago

Justice and Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said that government has worked hard to guarantee the rule of law in Malta, during an interview on Indepth.

Interviewed by The Malta Independent Editor-in-Chief Rachel Attard, Bonnici was asked for his reaction to the damning MEP report issued last week regarding the lack of rule of law in Malta. Bonnici said that he disagrees with the MEPs, as "in the last five years we showed that the rule of law is important for us. We introduced the party financing law, the whistleblower Act, The law removing time-barring in political corruption cases, and the process by which a member of the judiciary is appointed."

Minister Bonnici was also asked to whether the attorney general should have resigned, about Valletta18 and questions related to the next chief justice.
