A kindergarten in a poor community in Ethiopia has just been inaugurated, marking the 11th project completed by Kilimanjaro Challenge Malta.
For the past eleven years, over €700,000 in funds was collected for different projects in Kenya and Ethiopia. "All of these projects have been co-ordinated by the Missionary Movement 'Jesus in Thy Neighbour', founded by the late Fr. George Grima who passed away in September of this year," a statement by the group read.
Over the past year, the team managed to raise €75,000 for the recently inaugurated project - a kindergarten in Wush Wush, Ethiopia, a small villiage home to 800 families who live in extreme poverty. The school will host 150 students, offering children a basic education and a hot meal each day. The project is being dedicated to Philip Bonett.
"On the 5 January 2018, all eighteen members of the 11th team of Kilimanjaro Challenge Malta summited Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world - at 5895m. The team had worked tirelessly to train for this expedition while raising funds for the project," the statement read.
