Ryanair's new cabin bag policy

Sunday, 21 January 2018, 07:14 Last update: about 7 years ago

Under Ryanair's new cabin bag policy (TMI, 12 January), only 'Priority Boarding' customers will be allowed to bring two carry-on bags on to the aircraft.

However, as a matter of airport procedure - regardless of airline - passengers with a disability who require airport-provided assistance to the aircraft are usually boarded last and invariably disembarked last. This is particularly the case for those who are in a wheelchair and therefore need to board and leave the aircraft using the specially constructed bus called 'the lifter'.

Ryanair recommend that such passengers do not pay for 'Priority Boarding', as it just won't happen. So will it now be necessary for such passengers to pay for Priority Boarding, just for their second cabin bag to accompany them into the aircraft?

Incidentally, the highest praise is due to the PRM ('Passenger with Reduced Mobility) special assistance staff at Malta Airport. Without exception, they are the most helpful and caring special assistance staff my wife and I have encountered in our frequent travels to the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany and Italy.
