93,346 women in the workplace; 5,494 new female workers

There were 93,346 women in workplace as of June 2017, Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo revealed this evening, when answering a parliamentary question tabled by PL MP Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi.

The same figures also show that 5,494 new female workers entered the workforce during the same period, with Administrative and Support Service Activites (1,169) and Accommodation and Food Services (993) seeing the largest influx.

Most women work within Wholesale & Retail Trade industry, which employs 14,020 women; followed by Public Administration, Defence and Compulsory Social Security (13,525).

The lowest amount of women work within Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply (16).
