Social Workers within the Education Ministry will from next Monday start industrial action, the Malta Union of Midwives & Nurses (MUMN) said today.

The union said it had resorted to industrial action after its requests related to Continous Professional Development were ignored. It said these issues were instrumental to the service offered by these professionals.

MUMN said it had advised the Principal Permanent Secretary about the industrial action a week prior so that there would be time for a solution to be found.

It hoped that the Principal Perm Sec’s office would not leave matters until the last minute and a solution would be found before it was too late.
