A 23-year-old Chad national spat in the direction of the media on his way to the law courts to be charged with injuring two police officers, TVM reports.

The man, who resides in Marsa, was charged with injuring two police officers who caught him cutting grass in a public garden in Floriana.

The prosecution said that the man fractured a constable’s finger and slightly injured a sergeant who were in the process of arresting him.

During the arraignment accused refused to communicate with his lawyer.

The accused did not reply to whether he was requesting bail, and the Court took this to mean that he was not requesting it. He was remanded in custody.
