The Malta AAA organised the fourth races in the 2017/2018 Road Running League on Sunday. It started and finished at Ta' Qali and attracted a field of over 160 runners.

The 10km race at Ta' Qali was run in perfect weather conditions and winners Charlton Debono from Gozitan club Athletix AC and Lisa Marie Bezzina of Pembroke Athleta AC both ran personal bests to consolidate their position at the top of the League.

During the opening kilometres of the 10km Men's race, Charlton Debono was chased closely by Andrew Grech of Mellieha AC and Luke Micallef of Pembroke Athleta AC. However, at the half way point, Debono broke free and kept on running steadily to become the first runner to break 32 minutes over 10k in the 2017 /2018 League.

Debono recorded a winning time of 31:57, while second place went to the ever-improving Luke Micallef who crossed the line in 32:31. Mellieha stalwart Andrew Grech was a strong third in 32:40.

In the Women's race, Lisa Marie Bezzina gave ample proof of her current strong form by running a very fast time of 36:04. Roberta Schembri of St Patrick's also had a good outing and recorded a final time of 37:16 while Libertas runner Mona Lisa Camilleri was a close third in 37:29.

On the day, the Men's team event was won by Mellieha AC while the Women's team event was won AS Libertas.

The final race in the League will be held at Marsascala on 25 March.
