A Russian footballer sparked controversy by blowing his nose with banknotes and laughing at poor people.

Stanislav Manayev plays for FC Chertanovo Moscow in the Russian third tier.

In a video filmed on a plane, the 19-year-old midfielder is handed a wad of cash and says, 'I could give this money to people in great need, but I'm not going to do it because I have snot.

The laughing sportsman then blows his nose with a 5,000 roubles note - worth around €67 - before throwing it on the floor.

A clip of the stunt was uploaded to Instagram, and users bombarded the teenager with messages disapproving of his actions.

It's not the first time footballers have caused fury over pictures emerging of them defacing banknotes.

In 2012, a photograph of Premier League footballer Liam Ridgewell wiping his backside with a wad of £20 notes infuriated fans.
