The Northern Region Committee expressed its satisfaction that the Department of Local Government confirmed that it will pay the wages for the employees of the St Paul's Bay local council, a statement by the committee read.

The committee said that last Saturday, PN St Paul's Bay local councillor Graziella Galea had asked the committee to take action, and temporarily make good on the owed wage payments to the employees of the same council, who last Friday ended up without payment.

The Committee saw an absolute majority agree with the decision for the temporary payments, the statement read. The President of the committee informed the Department of Local Government, and in turn was informed that government will take immediate action to pay the wages.

The statement read that it would have been better gad government taken action immediately and not let the employees wait for their owed wages.
