On Saturday 24th February 2018 Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi organized the annual event to honour the ASMK 2017 Champions and Runner-up's of each section within the Association at Verdala Palace in Buskett. This event was sponsored by Monster Energy, Bavaria and Delicata Winery, Nexos, S. Curmi & Sons, MFCC of Ta' Qali and the Sign-It Ltd. Special thanks go to Her Excellency the President of Malta who offered the Presidential Palace of Verdala for ASMK to hold this event.
Among the winners honored were Karl Micallef driving his Autocross Ford Fiesta. Karl won the National Modified Autocross Championship for the first time. His runner-up is Gordon Johnson on an Opel Corsa. Deane Farrugia driving a Citroen AX won the ‘Standard Autocross National Championship’ for the third time with Johann Vella being his Runner up on an Opel Nova.
In Motorcycles Paul Muscat on KTM was honoured as the winner of the National Motocross Championship for the first time while his Runner-up was David Dimech riding on a Honda. Damon Bonello on Gas Gas won the Trials National Championship while his Runner-up is Antonio Leonardi riding a Gas Gas motorcycle. Joseph Scicluna on a KTM won the National Enduro Championship for the first time. Joseph was followed by Runner-Up Bernard Sammut on a KTM.
During his speech the President of the Association Frans Deguara congratulated all winners and their Runner-Up and also at the time he thanked all the sponsors who were also present in the hall. The Association invited the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sports Hon. Clifton Grima MP but he could not attend due to other commitments. Yet, also present were Hon. Ryan Callus MP - spokesperson of the Opposition for Sports and Sport Malta Chairman Dr. Lucianno Busuttil. During this event Mr. Noel Farrugia Founder of the Association was also present and address all present too.
The Association donated a memento to thank the sponsors who made the past year a success. Among the were the ASMK Main Sponsor Pasta Poiatti, Philip Agius & Sons Company and Central Asphalt Ltd whose assistance is greatly appreciated for their work towards the Association. Honorary Members were also given a memento for their continued support during most events of the Association. Among these are former Treasurer of the Association Mr. Edgar Xuereb and ex-Members of the Committee Frans Azzopardi and Emanuel Pisani. Other members honored were Mr. Lawrence Darmanin as the Projects Manager of the Association and Dr. David Camilleri, the legal Advisor of the Association.
Meanwhile, the Association is to continue its activities as programmed. On Sunday 4th March 2018 ASMK will be holding the 4th event of the WotoMoto 2017/2018 National Enduro Championship being held at the quarry of Tat-Targiet Ghomor Limits of San Pawl tat-Targa. The event starts at 10: 00 am.
