Waterpolo European Championships: Malta drawn in group with Montenegro

Wednesday, 7 March 2018, 13:23 Last update: about 7 years ago

Malta has been drawn in the same waterpolo European championships group as Montenegro, Spain and France.

The championships will be held in Barcelona between 14 and 28 July. Malta will be playing in Group B.

Montenegro finished runners-up in the last competition, losing to hosts Serbia in the final. They boast the likes of Aleksander Ivovic, who last year led San Giljan to a quadruple crown without losing a game.

Malta qualified for the European championships for the second time in succession after beating Belarus in the play-off with an aggregate score of 23-17. In 2016, Malta had finished in 15th place.

The other groups are Germany, Georgia, Italy and Hungary in Group A; Croatia, Netherlands, Turkey and Greece in Group C and Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Romania in Group D.
