BOV talks banking to Giovanni Curmi students

Friday, 16 March 2018, 11:18 Last update: about 7 years ago

During a recent initiative, Bank of Valletta representative Silvio Cassar discussed banking options with students attending Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary.

"Moving on to post-secondary education is a significant milestone. It brings with it a number of other important milestones, all revolving around the achievement of greater independence," said Cassar. Greater independence by default means greater responsibility, and it is often at this junction in life that one actually starts banking in person. "This is the time when one opens their first account, often simply to have the stipend deposited. Yet, one cannot underestimate the importance of budgeting and managing the cash flow at this early stage," explained Cassar.

In today's world, where banking has grown more dynamic and complex, Bank of Valletta considers it an integral part of its corporate responsibility to invest in financial education of its market. Various initiatives are undertaken during the year, spanning from discussing generic banking topics to more specific subjects related to the world of investments and financial planning.

Innovation, spurned by advances in technology, has increased the accessibility of banking services. A plethora of self-service banking channels have been introduced on the local market over the past years such as mobile and internet banking and more recently contactless cards. "The younger generation is intrinsically in tune with these innovations. However, we look forward to such occasions that enable us to highlight the good practices one should adopt. We also highlight the services the bank offers that give greater peace of mind and flexibility to the individual such as the BOV 3D Secure when one is shopping online," concluded Cassar.

Bank of Valletta offers customised packages for students including the BOV Club for those in post-secondary education and the BOV Graduates package for those about to take their first career steps.

Further information about these packages can be obtained from the BOV Customer Service Centre by phone on 2131 2020 or by sending an email on: [email protected]. Alternatively, one may also refer to the BOV Club Facebook Page.
