A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident in the Coast Road this morning.

The accident occurred at around 7.45 am when the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and crashed.

The police said the 44-year-old biker, named as Giulio Baldacchino, was riding a Suzuki GSXR.

An ambulance and medical team arrived for assistance, but the motorcyclist was certified dead on site. Police are advising drivers to use alternative roads.

Magistrate Arron Bugeja is conducting an inquiry.
