A police officer will be charged with raping a female colleague at the Msida police station in the coming hours, the police said in a statement.
The 27-year-old constable will also be accused of violent and sexual assault.
The police did not give more details.
Sources said the officer, who joined the force three years ago, committed the crimes in Msida, including in a police car. The policewoman who was allegedly raped came forward after she came to know that another colleague was passing through the same trauma.
An investigation was immediately launched and the vice squad, led by Police Inspectors Joseph Busuttil and Mark Mercieca, took the constable in for questioning.
The sources said this would be the first time a police officer was accused of raping a colleague.
