The National Festivities Committee announces the following activities in celebration of the 39th anniversary of Freedom Day.
Saturday 24th March
COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONY
10.30am Band march that begins from Triq ix-Xatt, Cospicua, continues through St Lawrence Street, Vittoriosa, and ends in front of the Freedom Day Monument in Vittoriosa.
10.45am Arrival of the band and a detachment of the Armed Forces at the Freedom Day Monument.
10.50am Arrival of the Commander of the Armed Forces.
10.53am Arrival of the Leader of the Opposition.
10.55am Arrival of the Prime Minister.
11.00am Arrival of Her Excellency, the President of Malta.
H.E. the President of Malta inspects the Guard of Honour.
H.E. the President of Malta along with the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition walk to the top of the Monument. The Freedom Hymn and a fanfare are played and flowers are laid at the foot of the Monument.
The National Anthem is played.

MASSED BAND DISPLAY
10.30am A musical performance by the Armed Forces of Malta band and the Malta Police band in St George's Square in Valletta.
Saturday 7th April, 2018
REGATTA
11.45am Traditional Regatta in the Grand Harbour organised by the Malta Rowing Association with the support of SportMalta. Traditional Maltese boats races will take place, including Boats A tal-Midalji, Frejgatini, Boats C tal-Pass, Kajjikki, and Boats B tal-Pass in both Open and Reserves categories. Trophies and special prizes will be presented after each race. The Shield presentation will take place once all the races are finished. Shields will be awarded to the clubs who obtain the highest amount of points in both the Open and Reserves categories respectively.
