The Ministry for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change has initiated the process of preparing and compiling a high-level assessment of the feasibility of roofing over part of Regional Road, Santa Venera, at the level of Brighella Street and its environs.

In doing so, the area would benefit from improved air quality on the upper area whilst also providing a physical buffer to limit noise from traffic at the lower level. The area would also see the introduction of green infrastructure on the newly roofed area to mitigate against the cumulative effects of urbanization in the area.

Minister José Herrera stated that for years on end the citizens of Santa Venera have been suffering from negative environmental externalities owing to excessive noise and air pollution. As promised in the electoral manifesto, this Ministry will do its best to try and address this important issue.
