The Cyclist Tour ta’ Malta: Baldassare Barbera wins Tour of Malta as last stage is cancelled

The bad weather conditions forced the organisers to cancel the last stage of the Tour of Malta which was to be held at the St.Paul's Bay By-Pass.

Thus the positions obtained after the third stage on Saturday were confirmed as final result, with Baldassare Barbera of Team Grasso Villanti Spagnolo winning the Elite category of the 24th edition with a total time of 4:19:37.23.

Will Corden of Velo Runner finished in second place with a time of 4:26:37.42 and Josh Housley of TBW Bottecchia Wigmore RT finished third with a time of 4:28:03.80.

The best Maltese was Christian Formosa with 4:29:56.70 followed by Alexander Pettett and Maurice Formosa.

The Masters Category was won by Dave Mitchinson with 3:06:09.16, followed in second place by Andrew Hicklin with 3:06:25.52 and Pilippo Porpora with 3:06:26.54. The best placed Maltese in the Masters category was Michael Camilleri with 3:06:45.05. He was followed by Fabio Spiteri and Ivan Zammit.

Mathilde Pauls won the women's category with 3:17:31.78, ahead of Marie Claire Aquilina with 3:18:37.17 and Gabriella Nordin who finished third with 3:19:48.90.
