Thousands of people gathered in Piazza del Popolo in Rome to attend the funeral of Fabrizio Frizzi, an Italian television presenter who passed away last Monday, aged 60.

Relatives, colleagues, friends and others were visibly emotional as the whole of Italy paid its last respects to one of the most loved personalities on Italian TV.

Among those present was Carlo Conti, who described Frizzi as his brother, Alba Pairetti, Milly Carlucci, Simona Ventura, Marco Columbro, Flavio Insinna, Giancarlo Magalli, Bruno Vespa and Mara Venier.

Frizzi died last Monday of brain haemorrhage.
