A man was hosptalised after he fell while carrying out construction work inside the Auberge d’Italie, in Merchants Street, Valletta.

The building previously served as the Malta Tourism Authority headquarters.

The accident took place at around 10:15am, the police said. The man fell from a height of three storeys.

His nationality and identity are not yet known.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where doctors certified his injuries as grievous.
