Archbishop Charles Scicluna today said that priests have a duty to speak up on what they see and hear.
He was speaking at the ordination of nine priests during a ceremony that was held at St John’s Co-Cathedral.
Scicluna has been at the centre of criticism by Labour exponents in the past few days.
He said that priests must speak up, but their words must come from the heart. They should speak not to receive praise or accolades but to manifest issues that relate to the human being.
The nine new priests are Fra Alan Joseph Adami, Fra Jethro Bajada, Rev. Anton D’Amato, Rev. Bernard Micallef, Rev. Kenneth Micallef, Fra Kurt Mizzi, Fra Elmar Pace, Rev. Giovann Tabone and Rev. Alex Zammit.
