Watch: Helena Dalli dashes to car to avoid questions on Daphne Project allegations

European Affairs Minister Helena Dalli headed straight to her state-vehicle as she refused to comment on the recent allegations that have emerged from the Daphne Project, with a communication aide telling the press that they should have asked their questions during a press conference earlier that day.

The Malta Independent did not receive any press call indicating that the minister would be attending an event that day.

Dalli was approached by the newsroom as she exited a restaurant right next door to a protest being held outside the Valletta Police Station, where civil society groups filed a report concerning the allegations.

Dalli’s portfolio includes relations with the European Union. Several European newspapers form part of a consortium of media houses which have convened to work on stories that had been followed up by Caruana Galizia before her assassination.

An EP delegation set up to investigate the rule of law in Malta said today that it will return to continue its work following this week’s revelations.

In her haste to escape from journalists, parliamentary secretary Aaron Farrugia was almost left behind. Dalli's driver had already started driving away with Farrugia still out of the car. It was then realised that someone was missing, and the car stopped for Farrugia to board.
