The 26th and final round of the Bank of Valletta Premier League is being played between Friday and Saturday and these last seven matches may determine the final outcomes.

As is widely known, the title, 4th place and relegation issues are still undecided and this is what makes this final programme so important.

Three matches involving the four relegation-haunted clubs - Mosta, St Andrews, Tarxien and Naxxar Lions are being played this evening with the remaining four - title and 4th place issues - scheduled for Saturday.

All the three matches on Friday are being played at the same time in different venues with the Naxxar-Senglea clash at the Centenary Stadium, Sliema-Mosta at the Hibernians Stadium and the Tarxien R.-St Andrews direct clash at the National Stadium. All the three matches commence at 7pm.

At present, St Andrews and Mosta have 23 points, Tarxien follow on 22 while Naxxar have 19 points. Bottom placed Lija Athletic are already doomed to next season's First Division.

It is a highly interesting situation and one may expect very keen clashes which require tough hands and strong performances from the officials.

The Tarxien-St Andrews clash is the most important of them all as it must be considered as a direct clash.

A victory for Tarxien will take them on 25 points and will definitely relegate Naxxar Lions. But that does not mean that the relegation issue will be solved. For if Mosta also lose against Sliema, then a decider will become necessary to determine the team to face the third placed club in the first division, that is Zejtun Corinthians, in the playoff.

Naxxar's hopes lie on the result of the St Andrews-Tarxien clash. Their only hope to avoid an eventual Drop is a victory for St Andrews. For if they beat Senglea they will join the Rainbows on 22 points. That will mean that the two teams will have to play a decider to avoid direct relegation. The loser will join Lija into next season's first division and the winner of that match having to face Zejtun in the playoff.
