MTA refuses to answer questions on financial involvement in Nas Daily event

The Malta Tourism Authority has completely ignored and avoided questions concerning their financial involvement with the Oh My Malta event organised by Nuseir Yassin, the man behind the Nas Daily social media programme.

Nas, who says he was not paid to come to Malta, found huge support on the island, eventually meeting with President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca as well as the MTA to get his ‘Oh My Malta’ tagline the country’s official slogan.

This newsroom understands that the tagline was the brainchild of Nas and local advertising agency BRND WGN which, in turn, begun to pitch the idea to the relevant authorities.

The MTA was asked whether Nas, or his girlfriend (also a vlogger), had received any fee or funds from the MTA and, if so, what that amount was. It was also asked about the total cost of the Oh My Malta event, whether the MTA had covered the costs and, if not, whether they had covered any of the expenses for the event, given that it was organised under the auspices of the Malta Tourism Authority.

This newsroom has sent numerous reminders to MTA Communications Head Janice Bartolo, but is yet to receive even an acknowledgement.

The Office of the President was also sent similar questions and replied that their office did not provide any financial assistance or pay any fees to the vloggers or the event.
