A 78-year-old woman from Żejtun was grievously injured on Thursday morning after she was hit by a van, the police said.

The accident took place at around 11:30am in Misraħ Karlu Diacono, Żejtun.

She was hit by a Peugeot Bipper that was being driven by a 30-year-old man from Birżebbuġa.

The victim was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.
