Xewkija Tigers are the BOV GFA Cup 2018 Winners.

Xewkija got off to a great start in the final against rivals Ghajnsielem scoring in the opening minutes and controlling the reigning champions for the rest of the first half.

Their luck changed half way through the second half when Ghajnsielem were awarded a penalty which also resulted in a send-off for Xewkija, with Ghajnsielem scoring the equaliser and upping their game with their numeric superiority.

Parity was restored with a send-off for Ghajnsielem, but the teams could not break the deadlock and went into extra time.

Ghajnsielem had their dream of retaining the Cup shattered two minutes from the 120th when Xewkija tapped in a loose ball in the box to end the game.

Horace Laudi, Executive Gozo Region for Bank of Valletta and Dr Samuel Azzopardi, President of the Gozo Football Association presented the BOV GFA Cup to the new champions.
