Tuesday, 8 May 2018, 15:25 Last update: about 7 years ago

Tribali are thrilled to announce the release of their new album RABA' set to hit the waves on the 8th of May 2018.

This will be the local band's much awaited fourth album, unique in its capacity to challenge the boundaries of diverse instrumental, rhythmic and vocal sounds.

RABA' takes the listener on a kaleidoscopic journey across all the different musical developments the band has experienced since its origin in 2004. While further developing their unique sound and building upon the cutting-edge elements introduced in their third album The Traveller , it seamlessly ties it all together through the re-introduction of fundamental elements present in their first two albums Tribali and Elephants of Lanka.

Born and raised in Malta, the members of Tribali form a collective of fervent multi-genre musicians with an ability to unify the diverse in a musical celebration of life itself. Throughout the years, Tribali have gathered a following of thousands of Maltese and foreign fans, resulting in sold-out events wherever they step foot. Their performances are lively and energetic, characterised by good music and crowd-interaction.

The unique and eclectic sound of Tribali emerges from an unconventional array of instruments and unlikely fusion of musical genres. This is where the ethereal frequencies of the sitar meet the deep earthy vibrations of the didgeridoo and where hypnotic vocals contrast with upbeat ethnic percussion rhythms. In addition, distorted electric guitars, chunky bass lines and dance-oriented drums blend effortlessly with the mouth harp, harmonica, acoustic guitar and subtle psychedelic undertones.

Since its inception, the band has performed in numerous countries including Germany,  Holland, Finland, Sicily, Turkey, Spain and Portugal. They performed in many festivals such as Glastonbury Festival in the UK and the Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia, while also headlining festivals such as Everness Festival in Hungary and selling out concerts in prestigious venues such as A38 in Budapest. They won many awards and all their previous albums never failed to deliver the magic which is Tribali.  With the launch of their new album and performances booked in Malta and around Europe, this summer is also a very promising one for the band.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by David Vella at Temple Studios, RABA' features songs previously performed by the band both locally and abroad while also introducing songs which have never been performed live before.

"It feels great that after so many years of creating music with Tribali, I feel as excited as I did when it all started. Recording this album is definitely an experience I will treasure forever."- Peter Paul

The album release on the 8th of May will take place at Olimpus Music Shop in Mosta and all the press and everybody else who is interested is invited to attend. "Raba' is a celebration of,  as well as a testimony to everything which represents Tribali, and we cannot wait to share it all with everybody who follows our music."- Eliza

The official release of RABA' will be followed by a launch concert which will be held on the 4th of July 2018. In his own words, Antoine, the man who started the project back in 2004, says "For me RABA' is the ultimate symbol for freedom of musical expression and the album launch concert is going to be like none other we had before. It has been at the back of our minds for ages and we finally found the right opportunity to put on a full two hour show with a huge set built specifically for this purpose with beautiful synchronised projections and light effects. We have a few surprises in store for everybody who will be attending and it is definitely a performance not to be missed."

With a track record like theirs, Tribali is sure to deliver with the release of their new album RABA'. So be sure to keep the 8th of May and the 4th of July free!
