Waterpolo, U19 European Qualifier: Heavy defeat for Malta in opening match

Malta's national under 19 waterpolo team suffered a heavy defeat in its inaugural match of the under 19 european championship qualifiers being held in Slovenia.

The Maltese youngsters gave a spirited display in the first session but were completely outclassed in the second session with Romania winning this quarter 7-1.

Jacob Sciberras was Malta's best scorer with three goals, with the other goals coming from Nikolai Zammit 2, and goals from Ken Erdogan and Mikhael Cutajar. Malta will next face host nation Slovenia.
