Evaluating 10 years of leadership - 'Joseph: 10 snin mexxej'

Thursday, 17 May 2018, 08:04 Last update: about 7 years ago

Political analysis needs sources which are as varied as the complex gamut of reality, from hard statistics to wikileaks, from official publications to living testimonies, from audiovisual footage to research studies. This new book, published by Sensiela Kotba Socjalisti, intends to contribute towards an informed evaluation of Joseph Muscat’s performance at the helm of the Labour Party and Malta’s government, SKS said in a statement

The book is being published to mark the 10th anniversary since Muscat’s election as leader of the Labour Party on 6 June, 2008, of which he spent the last five years, since 9 March, 2013, as Prime Minister.

The publication is not merely commemorative, SKS said. Though it unsurprisingly contains a large array of photographic content, its main features are the original contributions it comprises, and exclusive interviews with Joseph Muscat and his wife.

The contributors are by philosophical analysts Michael Grech and Prof. John Baldacchino, activist Gabi Calleja, former parliamentary secretary Deborah Schembri, journalists Kurt Farrugia and Nigel Vella, who are now the OPM chief of communications and adviser in the OPM repectively, economist Alfred Mifsud, and veteran politicians Evarist Bartolo, Maria Camilleri and Joe Micallef Stafrace.

In the uncut, unedited interviews, Joseph Muscat is grilled by Andrew Azzopardi, and Michelle Muscat is quizzed by Claire Xuereb Grech. The interviews include questions on the choice of the new President of the Republic, Egrant, the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, and much more besides.

The book, Joseph: 10 snin mexxej, is  introduced by Randolph De Battista. The book will sell at €15 and will be available from leading bookshop from 28 May.
