The police today asked for respect of the privacy of the constable who was seriously injured on Tuesday in a hit-and-run incident in Luqa.
In a statement, the Malta Police said they are “kindly asking the media and the general public to respect Constable Simon Schembri’s privacy, who is still recovering in hospital, and that of his family.
“The family have undergone several traumatic experiences over the past few days, and the
sharing of sensitive information, footages or photos in relation to his case may be detrimental to them.
“Moreover, this is a very sensitive investigation, where Court proceedings are also ongoing.”
Schembri is still fighting for his life after the serious injuries he sustained on Tuesday.
Liam Debono, 17, was charged with attempted murder on Wednesday.
