An elderly woman was assisted out of her home by civil protection officers yesterday after a roof caved in and she was trapped inside.

The incident happened in Triq Clarens, Pietà at around 10.45am.

The woman's husband managed to get out on his own but his wife needed assistance. A doctor from the Medical Emergency Team went in first to assist the woman, who did not seem to be injured.

She was then helped out by the CPD.

Some pets are still believed to still be inside the building.
