Masters Football Players of the Month for February, March and April 2018 announced

Christian Muscat of Rabat Cavette, Charlo Magro of Dingli Desana and Alexander Ribic of Marsa White Stars are the Masters Football Players of the Month for February, March and April 2018 respectively.

The three players, who have excelled in their game and stood out during the Masters Football Premier League for their excellent performances were presented with the MAPFRE MSV Life Masters Football Player of the Month trophy by Michael Galea, Chief Officer Business Development at MAPFRE MSV Life and Mario Meli, President of Masters Football.

Michael Galea congratulated the players for winning this important award which was introduced in the Masters Football Premier League for the first time this year as part of the sponsorship of MAPFRE MSV Life towards the Masters Premier League.

Mario Meli thanked the players for their contribution which was an important factor in making this year's Masters Football season a very successful one with the best participation so far. He said that Masters Football has continued to develop during this year attracting more interest and participation and this augured well for the future.

 

Christian Muscat - Player of the Month - February 2018

CHRISTIAN MUSCAT of Rabat Cavette was chosen the PLAYER OF THE MONTH for FEBRUARY. Chris started to play the game at the early age of twelve with Rabat where he spent twelve years winning various honours and being proud to form part of the squad that won promotion to the Premier Division at the age of 18.  Rabat that season finished second in the standings of the first division after Melita.

Rabat at that time had a strong team with such players as Mark Miller, Carmel Busuttil, Jeff Wood, Silvio Vella and other.

He left Rabat and joined neighbours DINGLI SWALLOWS and with them he was fortunate enough to form part of the team that also won promotion to the Premier Division in season 2008/2009 and also won the Knock out of the first division.

After three seasons he returned to his old love Rabat and he was again in the squad that won promotion to the Premier.

Unfortunately, because of pressure of work he had to retire, but happily enough he found another door where he could continue to play the game.

In the Masters League he found happiness again and continued to play with the same determination and passion as before. 

Chris plays with RABAT CAVETTE team that won a number of competitons with Chris always beng one of the protoganists. This season he played an important part to help Rabat not to be relegated.

 

Charlo Magro - Player of the Month - March 2018

CHARLO MAGRO who plays with Dingli Desana was chosen as the Player of the Month for March. He is a consistent player for his team in Masters competitions, a player that gives his very best in each game. In Masters he found a happy atmosphere and he could continue to play the game that he loves so much and of course keep up in good physical condition.

Although his team failed to win any major honours, he was always one of the protagonists for his team.  He started playing football at the age of 16 with Senglea and at the very start he was included with the main squad in division one in season 91/92.

After two years he joined St. George's and played a major part in the team that won promotion to Premier Division.

From St. George's he went to Hamrun Spartans and he stayed there for nine seasons being a regular in the top team.  In season 2003/2004 he joined M'Xlokk where he played for five seasons before he retired. He was an important player with the main team and he went on to help the team being crowned Premier Champions.

He had to stop for one season owing to pressure of work but returned to join Żejtun Corinthians. In four seasons he was part of the team that won promotion from third division up to first division in three consecutive seasons.

 

Alexander Ribic - Player of the Month - April 2018

ALEXANDER RIBIC of Marsa White Stars was chosen as the PLAYER OF THE MONTH for APRIL 2018. He is an important player in the squad and during April he helped his club to win the knock out competition and was one of their best scorers. He is happy and keeping fit in the Masters league, a competition of a very high standard.

He was attracted to play in the Masters League by the player coach of Marsa, Fabio Cauchi, with whom he used to play. He is enjoying himself and thinks that Masters football is a good project for Malta.

Ribic is from Serbia, born in Belgrade and he started football at the age of 9 in the nursery of FK Zemun. After two years he signed his first contract with FK Jedinslvo. He won with them 3rd division league and then promotion to 2nd with Bezania and also promotion to Premier League.

He then came to Malta and signed with Nadur in Gozo and won the league, Cup and was also top scorer. He then signed for Mqabba, the team to be promoted to Premier division. He returned back to Gozo playing with Victoria Hotspurs, but he got injured and had to stop for a while.

When he recovered he started playing futsal with various teams and winning also some competitions. He also played futsal three times in the Champions League qualifications. He won all competitions in futsal, 2 times Premier, 3 times Super Cup, KO 4 times, and was also top scorer 3 times. He was also chosen player of the year twice. In Futsal he played with Naxxar, White Eagles, Balzan, Lija and Sliema.

At the same time, he also played football helping Gharghur to win promotion to 2nd division, Marsa also, and Pembroke Athleta to 1st division.
