Drag Racing: Positive and encouraging results for Maltese drivers after first round

Saturday, 26 May 2018, 12:00 Last update: about 7 years ago

The first day of the first round of the European Championship of Drag Racing for cars and the second one for motorcycles once again offered great and extremely encoraging results to all Maltese drivers. In his first outing of the season Duncan Micallef made a perfect run and clocked 3.92 seconds at a speed of 309 miles-per hour. Unfortunately Micallef's Dragster had some damage and had to shut off in the very last moments for the 2nd qualification run. It seems that the battle between the two consecutive Top Fuel Dragster Champions Duncan Micallef 2017 Champion and Anita Makela of Finland 2016 Champion is still on since Makela responded swiftly with 3.95 seconds run.

In motorcycles Malta is being represented by two drivers, Glenn Borg and Franklyn Borg once again driving the motorcycle of Simon Giordmaina. Glenn Borg raced the quarter mile in 6.56 seconds at a speed of 206 miles per hour while Franklyn Borg raced 7.13 seconds run at 200 miles per hour. The races will continue today, Sunday 27th and continues tomorrow Monday 28th at Santa Pod raceway in England.
