A former player of Msida St Joseph, Federico Zini, killed his partner and killed himself with the same gun, Italian media report.

Zini, 25, is reported to have killed Elisa Amato, 30, his former girlfriend after a quarrel in her apartment in Prato. The two were heard quarrelling in the street before the man forced the woman into the woman’s car.

Rai Uno reported that the man killed the woman and drove with her body for 50 kilometres before killing himself. The bodies of the two were found in a parking lot.

Il Corriere Adriatico reports that Zini played for Msida St Joseph and later had an experience in Bulgaria with Botev Vratza. This past season he played for Tuttocuoio, a Serie D team based in Tuscany.

Zini played six months for the Maltese club, between January and July 2014.
