The government should never have allowed the continuation of the processing of the ITS land development before the Planning Authority once the Auditor General is still to complete its investigation, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.
Signed by Planning, Capital Projects and Property Market spokesperson Marthese Portelli, the statement said that the government sold prime site land to developers on what is known as the golden mile in spite of protests from constituted bodies and civil societies.
The government has been accused of selling public land at a much lower value than the going rates. The government will be pocketing just €5 upfront and €10 in interest but then it will be spending €74 million to relocate the ITS, the PN said.
The sale of the land is not in the country’s best interests, it concluded.
