Man injured in Salini fireworks explosion dies in hospital

A man who who was injured in Saturday’s fireworks factory explosion in Salini died in hospital today.

Colin Muscat, 36, of Mosta, was among three persons – another man and a woman – who were hurt in the blast which occurred at around 2.15pm, according to police.

Sources said that Muscat suffered burns to 90 per cent of his body, and today succumbed to his injuries.

Clint Grima of Dingli and Shirona D’Anastasi of Mosta were also injured. Shirona was Muscat’s girlfriend.

Four other people who were on site at the time of the blast escaped unhurt.

The fireworks factory belongs to the 11 February Pyrotechnic Society of San Gwann, which prepares fireworks for the Our Lady of Lourdes feast of the locality.
