A planning application has been filed to construct a dog park in Zabbar, which seems to form part of a proposed regional park for the area.

Plans filed with the application show the inclusion of hurdles, tunnels, bridge climbs and teeter totters, as well as other equipment, which could be used by our four-legged friends.

The site is located on Triq Bormla. According to the application, the site area is 1,100 sqm, and the current land use is labelled as unused land. The application was filed by Marc Vella Bonnici, on behalf of the local council.

The Government recently filed a planning application with a masterplan to create a regional park in the Fgura, Zabbar and Cospicua area. Since then, a few specific plans for some of the sites to be utilised have been filed.

The masterplan for the park shows the inclusion of a walking and jogging track; a dirt car track (close to the dockyard); a zip line; ‘adventure activities’; a multi-purpose area including a fitness centre, a multi-purpose sports ground, a skate park and playing field, a children’s play area, picnic areas and a beach volleyball area, aside from the dog park.
