Maltese and French soldiers yesterday clashed at the woodland area in Pieta` in a re-enactment of a historic battle that took place 220 years ago. The event involved hundreds of re-enactors yielding from 17 European countries and representing the opposing forces of the Order of St John and those of the French Republic. The victorious French soldiers later marched into Valletta.
