A total of 1,014 Maltese and Gozitans married their foreign partners in 2017, data tabled in Parliament shows.
The number of mixed nationality marriages registered last year were provided by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in reply to a parliamentary question by PL Whip Byron Camilleri.
The number of mixed nationality marriages in Malta increased consistently since 2008.
In 2008 there were 689 mixed-nationality marriages in Malta and Gozo. The numbers for the following years were a follows; 588 (2009), 619 (2010), 650 (2011), 732 (2012), 745 (2013), 931 (2014), 882 (2015), 1033 (2016), 1,014 (2017).
