ISSF World Cup Shotgun Malta 2018: Mikaela Galea debut in ladies trap event

Mikaela Galea was in the limelight of the shooting sports enthusiasts at Ta Kandja National Shooting Ranges on Monday where The ISSF World Cup Shotgun 2018 is being organized. Monday was day one of the qualifications of The Ladies Trap event, where each of the 65 participants had to shoot 3 rounds of 25 clays.

In her first round Mikaela managed 21/25, in her second round she managed 18/25. In her third round she hit her first eight clays but unfortunately while preparing for the 9th clay she realised she had a technical fault in her gun and had to continue her other 17 targets after the fault was repaired and the other shooters finished their round according to ISSF rules. She managed 19/25 for a total of 58/75.

The German shooter is leading the qualifications with 73/75. Makela Numella Satu from Finland managed 71/75, Rabaya Ekatrina from Russia and Cormenier Carole from France both managed 68/75.

The event continues Tuesday morning with another two rounds of 25 for each shooter, with the Ladies Trap Finals to follow.

Also Tuesday morning the Mens Trap event starts where William Chetcuti, Brian Galea, Mario Buhagiar, Nazzareno Attard and Gianluca Chetcuti will be in action among the top 180 world class Trap shooters.

The Public is invited to support the local shooters where entrance is free in the spectators area.
