Police disrupt drug deal, find three in possession of 1.5 kilos of cocaine and €64,000 in cash

Three men were arrested in Kirkop on Tuesday afternoon after they were caught with 1.5 kilos of suspected cocaine in their car, the police said on Wednesday.

Members of the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Drug Squad stopped the men as they were about to sell the drugs. Apart from the drugs, officers also found a bag containing €64,000 in cash.

Two of the men are Libyan while the third is Maltese. Their ages vary between 25 and 40 years.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke has launched an inquiry.

The men were taken to the police headquarters and are helping with the investigation. They are expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
