A four-year-old girl was seriously injured this afternoon when the ceiling of the room she was in caved in, the police said.

The accident took place in St Vincent Street, Sliema, at 4pm.

The girl was taken to hospital for treatment.

TVM reported that the girl was taken out of the house in a police car because the ambulance could not be driven into the road.

She was then transferred to an ambulance in front of the Sliema police station and taken to hospital.
