A traffic policeman was slightly injured on Friday morning after a car drove over his foot, TVM reports.

The case took place at around 9am on Zabbar Road, Luqa, near the Turkish cemetery.

According to TVM, the officer had flagged down a driver who was on his mobile phone. The distracted driver then allegedly drove over the constable’s foot.

The officer was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Last month, traffic policeman Simon Schembri almost died when he was dragged under a car for 400 metres in Luqa. The officer lost an arm but has otherwise recovered well.
