Magistrate Neville Camilleri has taken over the Daphne Caruana Galizia assassination inquiry, after it was assigned to him, MaltaToday reports.
Camilleri was appointed a Magistrate back in 2011.
Camilleri will take over from Magistrate Anthony Vella, who will be appointed judge later this afternoon.
When a magistrate is appointed a judge, his or her sitting cases and inquiries are transferred to other magistrates.
Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated in October 2017, when she was killed by a blast from a car bomb just down the road from her home in Bidnija.
The three men accused with her murder were arraigned before Camilleri in December before the compilation of evidence started to be heard by Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit.
