Karl Micallef wins Autocross, Bernard Sammut wins the Gozo Enduro

On Saturday 30th June 2018 Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi will organize the last event of the 2017/2018 National Trials Championship sponsored by Pasta Poiatti. The event will be held at the ASMK Complex at Ta’ Qali and starts at 6: 00pm. Admission to this event is free.

Meanwhile, during this past weekend the Association was very busy in events organising. On Saturday 23rd June 2018 ASMK organized the eleventh race of the National ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2017/2018 Championship. For this event 15 competitors were registered and these are the results.

In the Modified Autocross Class A Final Karl Micallef driving his Ford Fiesta won this race final followed by Noel Zammit on his Fiat Punto while third place finisher is Jean Paul Grech on a Peugeot 106. Fourth and fifth places were won by Vince Farrugia on a Volkswagen Polo and the Opel Corsa of Melo Zammit. All Competitors run this final close together all the way.

The Modified Autocross Class B race Final was won by Ryan Scicluna on his Ford Fiesta. Ryan was followed by Richard Spiteri on Opel Nova who finished in second place. Third place finisher was Brandon Lee Vassallo on his Peugeot 205 whilst fourth place was won by Keith Borg on his Vauxhall Nova.

From the Autocross Standard Class Jeremy saw Peplow drove his Kia Avella to victory. Peplow won and dominated this final while he was followed by Chris Formosa on a Ford Fiesta.

Meanwhile on Sunday 24th June 2018 the Association crossed the channel where in the quarry named tal- Ghansar in San Lawrence Gozo, ASMK organized the last race of the National WotoMoto 2017/2018 Enduro Championship. 15 Enduro competitors divided into three classes challenged the rough terrain Enduro track in beautiful Gozo.

Class A rider Bernard Sammut riding on a Beta motorcycle dominated this class and also he registered the fastest time of the day that of 2 minutes 55.677 seconds on the 1.5 Km long course. Bernard was followed by Matthew Gauci also on a Beta who registered his best time of 3 minutes 4.186 seconds. Third place rider Joseph Scicluna on his KTM motorcycle covered the Enduro track with his best time of 3 minutes 6.942 seconds.

In Class B Gozo rider John Attard riding on a KTM motorcycle won this class with his best lap time of 3 minutes 26.804 seconds and he was followed by Gabriel Muscat also on a KTM motorcycle with his best time of 3 minutes 28.860 seconds. Third place finisher James Grima on a KTM motorcycle lapped the course in 3 minutes 37.975 seconds.

Class C was won by Kurt Muscat on a Yamaha with his best lap time of 5 minutes 40.841 seconds. It is important to note that all competitors timings are recorded by MyLaps Electronic Timing System from start to Finish.

Meanwhile the Disciplinary Board of the Association referred to the Autocross Standard Class case that happened during the last final race held on 9th June. The board of the Association suspended Deane Farrugia a competitor on a Citroen AX from participating in any activity until further notice. This decision was taken following inappropriate behaviour by Farrugia both after the incident and after leaving the track. Meanwhile, in connection with the same incident the board also suspended Robert Giordmaina from participating in race events for the rest of this season.
