PN says construction industry has run out of space to dispose of waste

The opposition has declared that the construction industry are once again facing problems when it comes to waste disposal.

The PN said that this proved that government does not have a sustainable long-term environmental plan that is sustainable.

After a year of the construction industry dumping waste such as rubble in two quarries in Zurrieq and Mqabba after other sites were filled, the problem has retuned, the opposition said.

"The lack of a long-term plan by government is causing problems for the industry, because contractors no longer have a place to dispose of construction waste."

"The government has based the construction sector as a key stone for economic growth, so it should have thought of all the necessary issues including waste disposal. Now it is clear that government did not plan long-term and does not have an alternative for the disposal of rubble."
