SLIEMA FRANK SALT                    12
EXILES ELIA CATERERS               12
(4-1), (1-3), (4-3), (3-5)

Exiles Elia Caterers continued to show their improvement as they managed to snatch a late equaliser in a 12-12 draw against Sliema Frank Salt. As things stood, Sliema have to consider that they lost two important points in their quest to reach San Ġiljan at the top of the table. Exiles on the other hand were the happiest team after they recovered from a difficult start to claim an important point that confirmed their improvement game by game.

Sliema seemed to be cruising in the first part of the game building a four-goal advantage after they already took a 4-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Exiles recovered from the slow start to score three consecutive goals and finish the second session 5-4.

Exiles were back in the game, but Christian Presciutti’s goal gave Sliema a two-goal lead. Exiles tried to recover but every time they scored, Sliema were steady to respond and at a time they were 9-6. Kurt Griscti pulled one back in the third session, and again reacted in the beginning of the last session to equalise from Benji Lanzon and Serbian Slobodan Nikic.

Mark Melli gave Sliema again a two-goal advantage and after Exiles equalised, left-hander Zach Mizzi seemed to give his team a precious win with two minutes left till the end. But coach Marko Cuk had other plans as he called a time-out and from the resultant action, Andrea Bianchi scored from the left side to equalise. They defended Sliema’s last action to finish the game with a deserved point.
