Cycling: Strong challenge from Formosa brothers to win the Championship Road Race

The Road Championship organized by the Malta Cycling Federation will come to an end this Sunday, 8 July 2018 by the third and last race Tal-Maqluba, Żurrieq/Qrendi and start at 7.30am.

In the Elite category, the Formosa brothers Maurice and Christian of The Cyclists are leading the classification with 355 points followed by William Hili Mosta AF Sign Studio CC at 315. Interestingly, these three are the champions of the past three years where Maurice Formosa was champion in 2015, William Hili in 2016 and Christian Formosa in 2017.

Marie Claire Aquilina of Team Greens is on top of the Women's category with a maximum of 400 points. Her colleague Michelle Vella Wood followed with 330 points and Marion Pullicino Mosta AF Sign Studio CC is actually third with 315 points.

Isaac Spiteri of The Cyclists is leading the Juniors category with a maximum of 400 points. Behind him, there is Gianluca Camilleri Birkirkara St. Joseph SC with 350 points and Nicholas Vella Agones SFC with 155 points.

In the Masters 40+ category, Malcolm Cachia of The Cyclists is in front with a maximum of 400 points. Second is Ivan Zammit of Birkirkara St. Joseph SC with 350 points and third Mario Attard of Team Greens with 310 points.

The Masters 50+ category, Mark Schembri of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC is first with a maximum of 400 points, followed by teammate Steve Mifsud with 330 points and Joseph Micallef of The Cyclists with 175 points.

In the Under 16 category, Sean Enriquez of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC is in front with 350 points. Behind him, teammates Nicholas Vassallo and Malcolm Micallef are both with 200 points.

Kristina Spiteri of The Cyclists is at the forefront of the Under 14 Girls category with a maximum of 400 points, followed by two cyclists from Mosta AF Sign Studio CC, Justine De Giorgio and Bettina Falzon with 350 and 310 points respectively.

Matthew Galea Pirotta of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC is leading with a maximum of 400 points the Boys Under 14 category. In the second and third place, we find two other cyclists from Mosta AF Sign Studio CC, Luke Joseph Camilleri with 330 points and Nathan Zammit with 280 points.
