(2-2), (2-0), (3-2), (3-5)

Neptunes Leo Vegas have responded to San Ġiljan’s win on Friday as they also had to work hard to book a place in the final defeating the ever-improving Exiles Elia Caterers. Neptunes had the game in hand as they controlled their opponents for most of the time, but Exiles fighting spirit resulted in an interesting encounter.

Exiles managed to respond to the early goal by Petar Muslim, scoring twice from Sean Xerri de Caro and Michele Stellini, until Muslim scored again at the end of the first session. Jovan Popovic’s side were the better team in the second session and and deservedly took a double advantage, as Exiles had only one man-up to score from.

Marko Cuk’s team reacted after Neptunes made it 5-2 and scored twice from Aurelien Cousin and Mark Fenech. But Neptunes restored their three-goal cushion with goals from captain Niki Lanzon and Stevie Camilleri with a fine flick.

A 7-4 advantage seemed enough for Neptunes, but Exiles made another comeback and managed to defend well and score three consecutive goals to equalise with a bit less than four minutes. But Neptunes proved to be more cynical and took again a three-goal advantage to kill the game with a minute left. Exiles still kept fighting and scored a penalty from Slobodan Nikic and Aurelien Cousin from a man-up situation to close off with a more than respectable result.
