An elderly man was seriously injured this morning when he was hit by a car in Qormi, the police said.

The accident took place in Valletta Road at 8.30am.

The man, a 79-year-old Qormi resident, was hit by a Toyota Corolla driven by a 26-year-old man of Qormi.

The elderly man was taken to hospital for treatment.
